What a moving company in Kyle charges, and what makes the number move
Two movers and a truck run about $120 to $180 an hour. Most Kyle jobs are the same shape: a couple leaving a one or two bedroom rental in south Austin and closing on a two story house in Plum Creek, Six Creeks, or Waterleaf. That is 4 to 6 hours of work, and it costs more than people expect for one reason, which is the second floor. Movers in Kyle, TX who quote you off a bedroom count alone are guessing. The first time buyer move is most of what we do here
Kyle fills up with people making the same jump: out of an apartment they could carry down one flight, into a house with more square footage than furniture. Half the load is boxes and a mattress. The other half is brand new and arriving on a delivery truck the same week.
That matters on move day. If your sectional and your bed frame are being delivered Thursday and you are closing Friday, you do not need a full moving crew for eight hours. You need a crew for four. We would rather book that honestly than pad the estimate, and we will say so on the phone.
the alleys are the whole job
Plum Creek is not built like the rest of Kyle. Lots are tight, houses sit close to the sidewalk, and a lot of garages are detached and load from a rear alley. A 26 foot truck does not thread a Plum Creek alley the way a pickup does, so we make a call before the day, not on it.
- Front curb load: usually faster if the front door is close and the street allows it, even though the alley looks like the obvious answer.
- Alley approach: works when the alley runs straight through and nobody has parked in it. It can turn into a long carry if we have to stop short.
Either way, somebody looks at the actual street before the truck is committed. That is a five minute question at quote time and an hour of lost daylight if nobody asks it.
Six Creeks, Waterleaf
The newer subdivisions off FM 150 and I-35 are almost all two story, and almost all of them have a landing with a 90 degree turn partway up. Two pieces of furniture cause the trouble: the primary bedroom mattress and box spring, and the sectional. A king box spring will not always make that turn, which is why split box springs exist and why we ask.
We disassemble and reassemble beds, tables, and the pieces that have to come apart, including appliances. That is included in the crew’s time, not billed as a separate trade. If a piece truly cannot make the turn, we tell you before we scratch your new drywall, not after.
HOA rules and move in windows
Most of the newer Kyle neighborhoods have an HOA and a builder still finishing sections nearby. Practical effects: streets narrowed by construction parking, restrictions on where a truck can sit, and in some sections a rule about hours. We ask you for the HOA move in instructions when we quote, because a truck told to relocate mid load is the single most expensive thing that happens on an hourly job.
Getting to you from Del Valle
Our yard is at Burch Drive in Del Valle, and Kyle is a straight run down SH 45 to I-35, roughly half an hour with no traffic. That drive time is in the written quote as its own line. We do not invent a fuel surcharge at the end of the day. If the job is early enough to beat the I-35 backup between Austin and San Marcos, we will suggest the earlier start, because that traffic is real and it is on your clock, not ours.
Red flags when you are hiring a crew
You are handing strangers your furniture and your closing week. Two things separate a real company from a truck and a Facebook post.
- Numbers you can look up: every legitimate mover has TxDMV and USDOT registration on public record with the FMCSA and TxDMV databases. Check ours, and check anybody else you call.
- A written quote with no deposit: a company that wants cash before it has seen your stairs is telling you something.

The cheapest way to move in Kyle
Cheapest is not the same as least expensive by the end of the day. If you have already rented a truck or a container to save money, keep it and hire the muscle: our labor only moving help loads and unloads what you drive, and it is the lowest cost way to use a licensed crew. If you have a full house and a second floor at both ends, a crew and truck through our local moving service almost always beats the do it yourself math once you count the rental, the fuel, the day off work, and the friend who cancels.
The middle option is real too. Have us do the packing for the kitchen and the fragile items only, and box the rest yourself. Kitchens are the room that eats an entire evening and breaks the most glass.
The cheapest day to book
Midweek and mid month. Tuesday through Thursday between the 5th and the 20th is when the calendar is open. The end of the month, when leases end and closings stack up, is when everybody in Central Texas wants a truck. Spring and summer are our busy season, so if you are closing in May or June, ask early.
Getting a quote
Tell us the pickup address, the floor plan, whether the garage is off an alley, and the date. Mention anything heavy: a safe, a piano, a treadmill, a hot tub. We move those. You will get back a written quote with the hourly rate, the crew size, the expected hours, and the drive time, and nothing added at the end that was not on it.
