What a moving company in Dripping Springs charges
Two movers and a truck run about $120 to $180 an hour, but very few houses out here are two mover houses. Private drives, gates, and ground a truck cannot cross
Access is the part of a hill country move people forget to plan and then pay for. A 26 foot box truck is heavy empty and much heavier loaded, and out here it has to reach a door across ground that was not built for it.
- Septic fields and culverts: a loaded truck parked on a drain field or crossing a shallow culvert is somebody’s very expensive afternoon. We ask where the field runs and where the culvert is. If the truck cannot cross it, we park short and carry, and the carry goes in the quote as time.
- Gates, codes, and long drives: gated entries and a couple hundred feet of private drive are normal here. We collect the gate contact, the code, and the HOA staging rules at quote time. A four person crew sitting at a callbox is the dumbest hour anybody pays for on an hourly job.
Low limbs matter too. A box truck needs roughly thirteen and a half feet of clearance, and live oaks over a private drive rarely offer it. Photos of the drive tell us more than square footage ever will.
The drive from Del Valle
Our yard is at 4200 Burch Dr in Del Valle, which is the far east side of the metro. Dripping Springs is out past the far west side. That is a genuine crosstown run, usually 50 minutes to an hour and change, and if it starts in rush hour it is worse. We are not going to bury that in the hourly rate. It goes on the written quote as its own line.
What we do about it is start early. An early crew makes the drive on empty road and gets the heavy carrying done before the afternoon heat, which on a big house with a long walk to the truck is worth an hour or more. That hour is yours, not ours, so we push for it.

Crew size, hours, access, and heavy items. Volume matters less than any of them. Ask us to price your house at three movers and at four and you will usually find the bigger crew is the cheaper day. The other lever is packing, and it is entirely yours. If the boxes are not sealed when we arrive, you are paying a four person crew to wrap stemware. Plenty of jobs out here are not full moves.
